With the plethora of stuffed/iron/porcelain bunnies I have around here on any given day, it’s not toooo hard to flip on into Easter decor.  I’m hosting a shower this weekend so didn’t want people to be overcome by bunnies first thing (though I think that would be a good shower theme).  I donated a ton of Easter decor this year… as I was wondering why I have all this stuff that someone else may like?  and that I store every year?  So I just picked out my favorite items from the attic boxes, and donated the rest.  It made decorating for this holiday simple and quick.  Other ways I love to celebrate the season ….

  1.  through Resurrection Eggs. My boys love this every night, and it gives them incentive (not really them, wesley!)  to listen to the books well so we can get to the eggs.  It’s a good time for them to listen to the quick story, ask questions, and see a visual to go along with the story.
  2. Having my kids help put out the decor.  I let them pick out some items for their rooms.  Wes has three lambs (not pictured) next to his bedside table – he lined them up biggest to smallest.
  3. Egg hunts!  I don’t think we will do a tucker egg hunt this year, since we are traveling that coming week for my cousins wedding.  But we will go to a couple.  My kids like to hide them for each other to find… generally in every pot plant in the house.  (:
  4. We have this lent map for the boys, and it’s simple but actionable things to do everyday.  It’s something we try to do/talk about every morning but if we miss it we do it at dinner.
  5. Dye eggs.
  6. Little Easter crafts I pick up at Hobby Lobby.
  7. For Christmas we let the boys buy each other presents at the dollar store.  Took them separately, and helped them wrap them after.  They were so proud of what they got for the other – and they were surprisingly thoughtful about what the other likes.  So this Easter I want to do that for them, maybe have them make a little extra easter basket for each other.  with a five dollar limit!
  8. Last year I found a photographer that did mini sessions with lambs, but this year she can’t guarantee that there will be lambs.  So I am on the quest to find someone who does.

I’d love to hear how you celebrate easter as a family, and how you drive home the real meaning with your little ones.
