College, where many love stories start. I was a small town girl who had moved 500 miles south to go to a school…he was a city boy who lived down the road. We joke that I made a lasting impression on him during our first class of freshman year (Latin 101). I was a tad late, dressed in a neon pink skirt and black tank top, with my snake skin bra sticking out. I’m always a winner with those first impressions;) We immediately clicked as friends…it probably helped that we literally had all our MWF classes together so tended to spend the days together laughing. However, it was only a friendship. People would joke that we would get together but we just laughed it off and said our relationship was more like siblings. Finally, right before senior year, we realized what everyone else was talking. We just clicked. I had truly fallen for my best friend. I wouldn’t want it any other way. And the rest is history.
What is your most memorable moment of your love story:
I think the actual realization that we were meant to be more. We had such a strong relationship before the love story so without that realization, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Three adjectives that describe your sweet heart:
Patient, Understanding, Caring
A tip for an amazing relationship:
Never forget to laugh. We can be in the most heated of arguments, but once one of us realizes how insane we are acting and crack a smile…those walls just tumble down and all is well again
Describe the proposal:
We had been dating for 8 years, and I would be lying if I didn’t think we were heading in that direction. However, I really didn’t have a clue that it was happening. You see, Liam proposed on December 25, 2008. We were back in New Hampshire visiting my family for the holidays. I would stay in “my” room and he would be in the guest room during our stay. Well, on Christmas morning, he wakes me up at the crack of dawn. I thought he was insane and told him we don’t wake up this early for “Santa”. But he persisted and eventually turned on the light…to which I responded..”WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?! I won’t be able to go back to sleep now.” Calmly, he asked me if I knew how much he loved me? Still not having a clue, I tell him yes, I do know, but can we go back to sleep for just a little. And then he asks again…and tells me that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me (and our golden retriever, Trot). And then he pulls out this little white box and I finally realized what was happening and my throat tightened….and he tells me he wants to grow old with me and doesn’t want anyone else to get the chance to put up with my morning breathe and bed-head hair. And then he asked the big question. Of course, I was in shock..and soon after the golden retriever I spoke of was up on the bed giving us both kisses. It was perfect for us. Of course the hardest part was waiting 3 more hours for the family to wake so I could share the big news.
