The Hiram Bingham Train

There were so many highlights from this trip.  And of course, seeing Machu Picchu was at the top of that list.  But traveling to and from Cusco via the Hiram Bingham Train has to be a close second.  I loved the old world charm!   From the beginning before you board, you’ve got champagne and coco tea, live music and dancing.  Then you board onto a beautiful blue train and cruise through the Sacred Valley.  The views are spectacular.  The train has live music, a bar, and a four course meal.  We took it up for lunch, and then down again for dinner the following day.  I’ve always loved train travel, but this was next level.  We also had great company, and sat with the same sweet couple up and down, and laughed until we cried both train rides.  Across from us on one trip was a woman from San Sebastian.   We had a great time chatting about Donostia together, and they gave us a bunch of recommendations for next summer.  If you’d like to see more of the fun vibe of the train, I have a highlight of “peru” on instagram, with lots of videos.  I can’t recommend this experience enough.  It was definitely a once in a lifetime thing for us (:
