Notes from the kitchen . . .

At dinner I like to load up on my phyto-nutrients, antioxidants, and omega 3’s.

brussels sprouts.  one of my faves, but they get a bad rap.
  these little guys can be quite tasty if cooked correctly.

recipe here 
green beans: boil for 2 minutes, pour in ice cold water, saute with garlic & EVOO 
&
husband caught trout- with EVOO & seasoning.  perf.
artichoke – boil in water for 30-40 minutes
dip in butter.
mmmmmmmm
i got this for JB from Sur La Table last weekend
we love how this fish keeps our hands from burning up!
squash from the garden!
our squash from the garden is the above one.
the “organic” squash from grocery store is on the bottom.
in this case, bigger is better, and sweeter too!

    You would be SO proud of me. for dinner tonight i had basmati rice, zucchini, tomatos, onion, (sauteed all together served over the rice). delish.

    and i didnt even eat a thing of ice cream after.

    because i ate the whole bin last night…..

    whatever.

    I love brussels sprouts. Try chopping them up really well and sautรฉing them with a small bit of butter and olive oil. Add salt and pepper and they're delicious. They'll brown a lot and you get some crispy and some tender. It's delicious!

    mmmm brussel sprouts.. we make 'em spicy by putting sriracha on them with salt, pepper and lime juice. Delicious.

    I've heard you can put bacon in them. But being vegetarian.. that. is. a. no. no.

    I've never been a fan of brussel sprouts because of the rap, but honestly, I've never actually tried them. Am I missing out?
    I just planted our garden (wanted to make sure we were done with any last minute frosts), and I can't wait till they're ready to pick!!

    you eat so healthy and honestly if I could afford to eat like that with my non-existent budget here in Orange County I would be soooooo happy. I did for a while and boy was life blessed. Thanks for sharing. Praying I get the time and resources to enjoy veggies and fresh produce with every meal habitually :(..

    yummm.. ina's recipe for sprouts is like the best thing ever. even the kids love it. like we fight over the brussel sprouts.

    Yummy, these pictures look delicious! I also love brussels sprouts, but that is definitely true that they get a bad rep, part of the reason my family doesn't buy them to often ๐Ÿ™
