A Museum and a monumental birthday!

Yesterday we took a day trip to Riehen- just outside of Basel.  I had been wanting to go there for a while as I had heard about their incredible museum – the Fondation Beyeler.   Years ago Mr. Beyeler started amassing an extensive personal art collection – he was even good friends with Picasso.  Then a few years ago he donated it all to the Fondation and the museum was born.  It is pretty safe to say that this is my favorite museum I’ve ever been to … the curating would have made Kendall proud!  Besides having tons of Picasso, Rothko, Monet, Richter, Basquiat, … the list make take awhile… – they do not have many visitors — which makes checking out art a million times better for me.  The beautiful natural light falls perfectly on the paintings and out the window you are surrounded by lilyponds – making an enormous waterlily painting by monet even more enjoyable.  love love love fondation beyeler.  (And it’s an easy trip if you are in Basel – just take tram #6.)

Then Kelly and I walked about 2 km uphill to check out this spot where you can check out ALL of Basel.

Later we all headed to the Rhine to surprise Seppi for his 30th birthday!
Here JB is with the Nobu-Oshima Brothers; Hide & Taka.

WHAT’s your favorite museum … ever??
