My oldest son has been talking about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for weeks in anticipation.  He has always loved costumes, and to be able to wear them at his favorite place, is just the best time he could possibly have!  He must have said a couple dozen times to people, hi!  I love your costume!  Having everyone else, or most everyone anyway, in costumes is so much fun.  Sadly we couldn’t go as a family this year because Wes was sick, but I enjoyed my time one on one with my big boy.  A big bonus was that our close friends came up for the night, so the tickets didn’t go to waste.  I told Wes we are going to do the same later in the month, just him and I, and maybe a friend too.  If given the option my boys would always choose to have the other one come along, but I think it’s something special to have that one on one quality time.  Even the car ride up and back was a good opportunity to just chat with him about all things kindergarten.  It really was so sweet listening to my big guy be so polite, fun, and sweet with me and everyone around him.  It made me so proud of the person he’s becoming.   Anyway, back to Mickey’s Not So Scary  … It was our third year attending the party – you can see our first year here, and second year here.  I think this year was my favorite year yet.  The weather was beautiful, the lines were so low – we walked onto Splash Mountain,  the decorations were gorgeous, and the treats and villain characters were plentiful.

  •  Your ticket starts at 4.  They kick everyone without a party ticket out at 6.  We got there right at 4, and the crowds were already starting to thin quite a bit.  We rode Mine train (our first time and SO much fun!), tomorrowland speedway, Buzz Lightyear, and Space Mountain before our friends met us at 6.
  • After we met up with our friends, we grabbed dinner at Pecos Bills.  I used the mobile order on the My Disney Experience App to order it as we were walking there.   I love how helpful this is with kids in tow.  No waiting in line, and they’ll let you know when your order is ready.
  • If you want a table service dinner, you should book as soon as possible.  We loved the one at Be Our Guest last year, but it is pricey ($60 for adults and $36 for kids).  But still a really fun splurge!  I loved the fun dessert.  If you want to maximize the party time,  quick service is the way to go.
  • Yes, even adults dress up!  Which makes it so much fun.  Some people have such great costumes that you aren’t sure who is a character and works for Disney and who is just there for the party.
  • Don’t miss the parade!  I absolutely love the parade.  Have someone in your party, an adult, reserve a spot for everyone at least 20 minutes before.  I’d start in pioneer land, where it all begins, and you’ll see the headless horseman start.
  • We didn’t make it to the halloween themed fireworks this time, but we did in years past.  The fireworks are amazing, and if you can stay up, definitely plan for it.
  • After dark is when things get really spooky (:  main street is all lit up with ghosts lining the way, and spooky music starts to play.
  • If you have food allergies, they have special treats for you.  Just let them know when you are getting your initial treat bag.
