making the best of it

We are trying to make the most of this whole thing.  While simultaneously missing our family and friends, so much.  But the family time – that is good!  We’re normally so rushed every single night.  Off to Baseball, Soccer, Gymnastics, etc.  A quick bite together, and then we rush.  This has only been a few days, but it’s been one of those things I know will be very good for us long term.  When else will I have my children home like this?  Summers are wonderful, but they are just a little less busy than school years.

While I’ve got anxiety like the rest of us, I’m  trying my best to find joy everyday as a family together.  Around a table eating meals, through lessons and mistakes.  Ending our days on the river – learning how to cast nets, catching dogwelks off the barnacles, watching sunsets.  I realize what a blessing it is to have a backyard and a riverbed to explore right now.

Here are some things that are making life a little easier right now – I posted how we were preparing last week.

  • Marco Polo App!  we’ve loved using this the last couple years to keep in touch with family and friends.  But especially love it right now.
  • wow in the world podcast – if you have science lovers this is great!  they can ask alexa to play.
  • mo willems daily doodle
  • The Defined Dish Whole 30 5 day meal plans.  We’ve done this one many times, it’s my favorite!
  • Write the Word for kids – we are starting every morning with this.  It’s a great way to take inventory on what they’re grateful for, how they are feeling, and write the word.
  • Since Amazon (lots of health items at my storefront) is prioritizing essential orders… I’ve been pic9king up a few items to keep the kids engaged at Fat Brain Toys and Kid Made Modern directly.
  • I’ve made myself a quarantine bucket list.  For our family and personally.  Trying to take advantage of all this time together.
  • making some muffin tin meals for the boys for snack or lunchtime.
  • loving all of the easy science experiment books from usborne – and just all of their books in general are so helpful right now.
  • we did the Minno church at home on sunday for the boys and they enjoyed it.

I’ll keep doing posts like these, as I discover what’s helpful and what’s not!  I’m working on a routine post, but to be honest… we’re just three days in – and I for sure do not have it down!

stay safe friends!
