Healthy Baby

I’m on the granola side of things.  I clean with baking soda and vinegar, take my veggies organic, and am one of those people who use natural deodorant (thankfully I’m not a sweaty person, otherwise it could get … interesting).

I can honestly say I’ve been a pretty relaxed pregnant person.  I’ve been careful not to consume deli meats, unpasturized cheeses, and all of the other goodies on the no list.  But I haven’t gone overboard like I thought I might.  I let myself have a coke if i’m queasy … I just try to listen to what my body needs.  Heck, I even had a steak last weekend!  Which is something I do just a few times a year and not really on purpose but more as I’m not much of a meat eater, and even less of a red meat eater.   I’ve been in tune for the most part… I’m exhausted, I get rest.  I’m hungry, I eat.  Same goes for what to put on and in my body.  Thanks to my mom who is light years ahead of everyone else in the health and organic world… I have developed a love for the as natural-as-i-can get away with in products, food, and lifestyle.  So naturally, when picking out things for the babe, I’ve been reading labels and researching away.  Here are a few items I’m going to give a whirl for baby tuck from aden + anais, Charleston Naturally (who offers 20% off to any of my readers with code FTAT) and Honest Company.  Would love the input from all the momma’s out there too!
3.  baby comforter.  read about this one.  love.
4.  Honest diapers.  we’re not doing cloth over here, and these are the next best thing upon researching.  Plus they are pretty darn cute.
more to come as my knowledge increases!  and if you’re a momma who likes this sort of thing, I’d love to hear from you.

You are going to love the aden+ anais blankets. the best part is after every wash they keep getting softer and softer. My little girl is now 20 months old and she still uses them. We swaddled her in them until she was 4 months old and then she was like " get me out of these things!"
We also use vanicream for sunscream. Its all paraban chemical free. My dermatologist recommended it for us and I also like the California Baby lavender body wash/ shampoo for my little one.

I'm with you! I'm all about organic. I use Honest products and then got burp clothes from Under the Nile because they are so soft and organic. Someone suggested we get 2 packs of 4 for baby.

I am SO about organic for my kids. MUCH more so at first (I have kind of fell off the wagon a tad) but for my first kid? He ate JARRED BABY FOOD for the first eight months of his life. It was organic but STILL….JARRED BABY FOOD? Nasty!! My second child never had an ounce of jarred food as I made everything for him from scratch. It was about when my first was 8 months that I really read and researched and stopped the jarred food and made him homemade organic meals. I was in the kitchen SO MUCH making and freezing food.

Not sure what your plans are with their doctors, but I take my kids to a naturopath doctor and I LOVE her. I was just SO against giving my kids any antibiotics or store bought medicine when they were young. Neither of my boys have ever had antibiotics as their doctor always gives me natural remedies to let their bodies just "work it out on it's own." I also go by a very delayed/unconventional vaccine schedule for my boys. Neither have ever had a sip of juice, they only drink organic rice milk and loads of water. (My cousin gives her 2 year old DIET COKE IN A BOTTLE! OMG!)

Now that I wrote a novel I shall go now. So excited to see little baby Tucker!!

Have those blankets and loved them!! Didn't use cloth diapers because I researched that you use more water and soap and energy cleaning them which is worse on the environment.

Thank you so much for sharing! The aden & anais blankets are great – perfect size for swaddling. We had quite a few of them for our daughter. We weren't all that careful about body products, but we have made all of our daughter's food and did organic food. I am going to start trying to switch her products over.

I was definately on the more organic side of things. I even did re-usable diapers for a while, and I make my own laundry detergent. I think its just a matter of trial and error. Love these finds Sarah! Can't wait for baby cuteness to arrive! x

Hi Sarah! I hear you on the cleaning products. I started using Sal Suds from Dr. Bronner's. It works for everything from laundry to dishes to mopping floors.

I'm also all about safe beauty products. Wrote a whole blog post about it! 😉

The A+A blankets are de riguer in my baby-booming city. I love to give them as gifts and can't wait to swaddle my own with them! They are soooo soft!
Love those adorable Honest diapers! I have a friend with twins who uses cloth diapers, but I really think you end up using a lot more water and energy washing them all the time too (in practically empty loads to boot – b/c who wants to wash stuff w/dirty diapers?)
Keep these baby tips coming as I am bookmarking stuff for the future! 😉

Sarah, I love these picks! I will have to check that comforter out. Here is a post I did about healthy baby when Behr was just born:

    gear for baby wellness

The biggest change we added to our home was a cool mist humidifier and occasionally a few drops of essential oils in the reservoir to natural combat cold season.

I'd love to hear more about what you do to live as natural a lifestyle as possible. I don't have many suggestions to offer in the area of babies, but I'd love to hear more of yours!
