Exterior Paint Colors on a Colonial

Art Accent

{thank you to art accent (c/o) for this beautiful watercolor of our home}

We are finallllly getting our house painted.  in a few months, after some repairs.  We had it pressure washed, which actually made it look 1000 times better, but it. is. time.  It’s been time!  I have a couple ideas rolling around in my head, and I’d love your input.  JB is colorblind, so the decision is mine.  This is when I’m especially thankful to have a blog, because I can ask YOU.

Our exterior now is a pale pink.  It surprises people that it’s that, but that is what it is.  It also has a ton of imitation colors where people did touch ups.  We have black shutters, a red door, and white trim.  I have to say I’ll be sad to see the red door go, but I don’t feel like it’s 100% me, so away it goes.

Something I am mostly sold on is white trim, and a white exterior.  BUT it’s the shutter and door color I am looking into.  And what I need your help with!  Though if you did a white/white trim combo, I’d love to know what color/brand you used.

Here’s some inspiration.

I am in love with this house.  Ours don’t have much in common.  But I love the shutter/door color.  there it is again.  i love it.

then I guess a bright blue door.  with black shutters?  navy shutters? // via southern living

this is probably the most “me”.  but I’d love to go bold with this shade door on the shutters.  via martha stewart.

there’s also something about black shutters and a black lacquer door.  via The Zhush

What would you do?  I feel like the classic option I will probably never get bored with, but I’d love to take a risk too.  And any new combos you’d suggest?
