Easy Entertaining with Shipt

{thanks Shipt for partnering on this post and party – it’s a brand I’ve been using and loving for a few years now!  you can see a fun video on my IG today that the Shipt team created}

I always think of the quote from Lilly Pulitzer “Let’s have a party, let’s have it tonight!”.  That’s generally how I feel.  And while I’ve mentioned a few times on the blog that if we’re having a crowd I tend to hire it out or do something incredibly simple (chili, taco bar, grilled everything).  But we love hosting, and it’s a rare week when we’re not at least having someone over for dinner – whether that’s family or friends.  Having the food nailed down just makes me a much more enjoyable person to be around!  And I get to do the stuff I really enjoy – like arranging the flowers, picking out a perfect tablecloth, coordinating a theme, thinking of the perfect way to celebrate that person, and putting effort into figuring out a memorable activity.  This party with Shipt was my kinda party – low key, good friends, activities, and delicious and simple food!  I love that EVERY.thing. was ordered right through Shipt and delivered directly to my door.  Even to my kitchen!  I had fun picking out fun inflatables, paper plates, and all the food for the party.

Love these sweet mommas and their kids!!

Activities:  we had water balloons, a blow up pool, sprinkler, and a slip and slide of sorts.  Kids had a fun … and we still had guests until 5pm!

A few easy tips if you’re hosting a party or a fun play date:

  •  I always like to keep grab and go stuff on ice.  Like these yogurts or uncrustables.  This also eliminates people asking – or feeling like they’re bothering you when they need food for their kids.  I always want anyone at my house to feel comfortable to open the fridge or get what they need, but I also think it’s nice to just have what you need out so you don’t have to ask!  You can also freeze yogurts or uncrustables before hand if they’re going to be outside, and they’ll probably be the perfect temp when the kids get to them (but I’d still keep them on ice either way).   Same with a cooler full of drinks.  We had one for kids, and one for adults.
  • I always try to make things memorable and fun, but also low stress on me.  For this party, I did the single serve blue bell ice creams with a ton of toppings all laid out.  Super simple, easy clean up – especially since it was outdoors, and the kids enjoyed it.  And adults too (:
  • Just have people over!  no one expects it to be perfect or your house to be sparkling.  They just appreciate the invite.
  • Prep before hand, hire it out, shipt what you can – so you can enjoy your time together!  If the host is relaxed, the guest is going to be relaxed.
  • Have a fun playlist going.  I am a huge amazon music subscriber – so I do 60s rock, “dinner party”, “kids party”… love their playlists.
  • Preorder your platters and salads for the adults (or the kids if they want it!), and have your Shipt shopper deliver it the morning of.  I also think it helps to have a delivery the night before so you can have everything prepared, as much as possible.  I love that they’ll deliver ice too!  I always forget ice last minute.   I love that you can even get the flowers delivered!  Publix 3/$10 for the win!

What are some easy entertaining tips you’ve got?  I always love learning y’alls tricks and tips!
