DC and Charlottesville weekend

Hotel George hill country bbqWhat a fun weekend!  We got in late Friday night to DC.  Checked in at  The George, had dinner at Hill Country BBQ (loved both!) and walked around DC for a bit.  We picked up our rental car in the morning at Union Station and headed down to Charlottesville.  We were starving once we got there and took readers recommendations of eating at Bodo’s Bagels.  Amazing!  I wish we had one here.   We then met up with the wedding party at King Family Vineyards.  It was beautiful, even in the rain.  Thankfully there was plenty of room inside.  The wine was delicious!  I wasn’t expecting it to be soo good having not had any Virginian wine before… that I’ve known of anyway.  King Family Vineyard King Family Vineyard King Family Vineyard King Family Vineyard King Family VineyardWe then went back to our hotel, rested up, and went onto Mas Tapas  for dinner which we both loved.  We ended up at the pedestrian mall afterwards.  JB kept wondering why I wanted to go to the mall?  haha.  He was happy and surprised it wasn’t an actual indoor mall.  It was so fun, I wish they had more of these kinds of streets in America.

We grabbed a glass of wine at Red Pump Kitchen just because it looked so cute (well, that was my reasoning anyway).  It ended up being owned by the same people as Pippin Hill!  So no wonder it was adorable in every way.

University of Virginia

We walked around University of Virginia.  It’s so beautiful there, and the weather was perfect. We are definitely taking the boys here in fifteen years when the first is looking at colleges!pippin hill

From there we headed to Pippin Hill.  Which I was obsessed with, clearly!

We made the way up to Carter Mountain Orchard and picked a few apples.  It was super busy, but still a lot of fun.  Just a five minute drive away is Monticello.  We loved touring around Thomas Jefferson’s incredible estate and learning more about him.monticello clifton inn clifton inn clifton inn clifton inn I wish I would have taken a picture of our room from the Clifton Inn.  The property is so stunning and I can definitely see why Emily and Ross chose it to be there wedding venue!!   I basically never stopped talking about how adorable it was since first laying eyes on it.

The whole wedding was the dreamiest!!!  Emily was so stunning and perfect.  They were both just so in love.  Of course I cried lots of happy tears during the vows.  Could not be happier for them!!  Also Emily did ALL of the amazing calligraphy.  She has her own shop – Lacquer, so check her out if you need beautiful calligraphy in your life.  Oh and super funny but there were THREE Sarah Tuckers at the wedding.  Two of those, were married to John Tucker III’s!!  My mind is still blown.  lol.

The next morning we drove back to DC, and flew home to our kids!  What a fun, beautiful, happy weekend!!
