    Guest Room Refresh

    Pine Cone Hill Annie Selke

We love hosting our friends who come into town.   It’s so special having them stay with us – when else do you get to spend that much time with your friends as adults?  Or that much time with your friends babies?  It’s a treat.  I’m allll about making them feel comfortable, welcomed, and right at home.  Our guest room is tiny, but situated for plenty of privacy.  We had an antique full in there, it was a bed my parents bought in Birmingham before I was born.  Years later it was my first big girl bed.  I loooove that bed.  It’s victorian and beautiful, and perfectly chippy.  But it’s also small, especially when a family of three or four is sleeping in it.  So it’s now going back to my parents house and we bought a queen for that room (I was a little surprised by the amazing price, but the good reviews swayed us.  and so far it feels good… friends that stay with us will have to let us know!).Annie Selke Pine Cone Hill Even with three windows in the room, due to the way it faces, and the foliage surrounding it, it’s a pretty dark little room.  When we first moved in I painted our house three different colors .  I tend to make those kind of house decisions really easily, while other choices can take me far too long.  JB painted the guest room Revere Pewter, which is a beautiful gray.  It works in the rest of the house because there’s plenty of unobstructed natural light.  Literally everywhere but the guest room.   It felt a little dungeon-esque.  So we had it painted super white by benjamin moore.  Our painter (email me if you are local and need a good painter!) painted it in the matte regal finish and semi gloss for the trim.  I love how it brightened up the space.  We replaced the blinds with bamboo, and took down the curtains.  I love the way it showcases the old windows.  Pine Cone Hill Annie Selke

Then came the fun part!  Thankfully Annie Selke provided all of the gorgeous french blue hues from their C3 collection, including beautiful bedding and a classic houndstooth rug.  I love that our guests will get to sleep on something so luxurious and cozy.  I had fun mixing favorite patterns.  As you can probably tell — blue is my sig-na-ture color – said like shelby from steel magonlias. (; I’ve always loved all of the shades of blue – and french blue is so crisp and classic.  I picked out the bedding first, and then everything else fell into place.  I love the safavieh chandelier, and it’s such a great price – $139!   guest room refresh

I always try to keep a few treats, fresh flowers, waters, a devotional book, and a magazine or two for our guests.  I also stock the little built in with all kinds of toiletries.  We have a mounted TV opposite the wall of the bed (not pictured), with fire TV hooked up.  We have a little notebook for our guests to write a little note on their stay, which also has the wifi password in it.
