Essential Oils with Ashley of Evening Grace Essentials

My friend Ashley sent me some essential oil blends to try, theives, and ningxia red.
I’ve been mildly freaking JB out with my new love for essential oils – but I kinda think he likes my crunchy ways.  At least he let’s me use them on him (:
Here are some questions I had for Ashley about EO’s – I’ve found it all a little confusing, and maybe you have too?  You can also ask your own questions in the comments and Ashley will answer!

In what ways do you apply essential oils?  What do you recommend for adults?  For children?
There are three common ways to use essential oils:
You can apply them topically – Oils can be applied directly to the skin. The bottoms of your feet are a popular place to apply oils. The feet are not a sensitive area and the oils will be drawn into the body quickly. When using essential oils on little ones you always want to dilute them with a carrier oil. My favorite carrier oil is organic coconut oil. Young Living has a V6 oil, and you can use olive oil. You can also apply an oil onto a specific area, diluted or not.
You can ingest them (only Young Living) – Oils can be dropped under the tongue. If you do not like the taste of a certain oil in can be dropped into vegetable capsules to ingest.
You can breathe them in – Diffusing oils is a great way to benefit from them. We do this at bedtime to help the little ones relax, through out the day if someone isn’t feeling well, or anytime I need a mood boost. You can also place a drop of oil onto your hands, rub them together, place your hands over your nose & mouth, and take a deep breath.

How have essential oils changed your life?
As a mom who prefers to do things naturally, using essential oils has allowed me to feel equipped in keeping my family healthy. We started using oils about four years ago, but I was only using them for when we were sick. Then I had my second baby and something was just off. I began looking for natural alternatives to help with it, and I read how essential oils could benefit me in this area. After just a few weeks of using the oils both my husband and I saw a major difference in me. I dove into reading and looking for other ways our family could be changed with oils. I am amazed every day at the blessing these little bottles have brought to our home.

What are your three favorite for women?
My favorite oils for women would be Joy (used for emotional balance and uplifting), Stress Away (helps to combat normal stresses and aid in relaxation), and Dragon Time (supports normal, healthy emotions during the female monthly cycle).
For kids?
My favorite kiddo oils are Thieves (LOVE this oil! It is great to boost immune support and is purifying. We apply this to all of our feet nightly during cold/flu season. I also diffuse it most days.), Copaiba (I apply this to baby’s gums to help with teething.), Lavender (This oil is incredibly versatile. You can use it to help with relaxing and most things skin related.), Oregano (This oil is immune enhancing and supports the respiratory system).
Which ones are safe for pregnant women?
I recommend the book Gentle Babies by Debra Raybern for all things oils if you are pregnant, nursing, or have little ones. My favorite pregnancy oils are: Peace and Calming to help relax, AromaEase to help with morning sickness and digestive issues, Peppermint for headaches, and PanAway to help with achy muscles and joints. Another game changer for me was drinking Ninxia Red everyday. This drink is great for aiding with morning sickness, heartburn, energy, and hormone balance after baby too.

You can read about their Seed to Seal process here 9. YL oils do not have an expiration date. 10. YL oils are safe for ingestion.

I occasionally get ocular migraines.  Is there a good essential oil for that?
I did a little reading, and found testamonies of people finding relief using either lavender or deep relief roll-on. They applied it to the temples and base of the neck. There is also an oil called “m-grain” specifically for migraines. I’m going to look into it some more for you, but so far these two seem to be the most popular.
