i'm sure most have read this already, but it bears repeating.

there are a few things i've been doing for STE that may help you
whether you just opened up your own business or need the push or just need some good reads/organization tools.

- i bought a laurel denise planner.  this is easily the most genius planner out there.
it helps me set and then break up my goals - daily, weekly, monthly, yearly.
- i've been a voracious reader.  offline.  this week i'm reading creative, inc.
- i've been reading design sponge biz ladies
-i know that getting outside inspires me.  whenever i hit a wall, i know it is time to take a walk.

i'd love to know how you keep inspired, organized, and moving forward.
book rec's?  strategies? online reads?
let us all know in the comments!

  5. just. what. I. needed.

far off as it may be right now, the goal is to have my own photography business. And while having a full time job, being a full time student.. and attempting to still be a normal functioning human.. well.. sometimes I get a little lost.

I constantly look at other's work to keep me inspired and motivated. I read photography books. I just read any book. I try to have my camera on me always.

and most importantly? I surround myself with encouraging, loving, and supportive friends.

  6. Gosh I sure needed this right now. I loved it & just had to pin it to pinterest haha. And I wish I was more organized & better about following through. It's hard because I always seem to have a list of about 20 things to do & rather than just stopping and completing one I keep adding more & more then nothing gets done... My goal is to just start taking the time to just do it.

  7. Perfect words for a Monday morning! Even if we've seen it before it's a great reminder. Thank you!

Writing helps me stay inspired and keep focused. Even when I don't think I have anything to write, I just write more. And I am not a writer by any means. I think my old english lit teacher called it free-write. You just write your thoughts. Sometimes I'll write lists, or letters or stories or goals and inevitably something ends up falling out of it.

  13. All of this is really so true! I'm not trying to run a business at the moment, but I've got things I need to keep after in order to one day "make it"... and my husband is constantly reminded me to push through it. Don't quit. And fight to keep my dreams in front of me. It's work...being creative isn't natural. I think some are born with more creativity than others, but a lot of it is excising a muscle. Thanks for the encouraging words!

  14. That struck a chord. Taste is certainly innate...but success comes so slowly to most. I'm unfortunately one of those who is too critical to ever get through to the other side.

  15. how do you use the Lauren Denise planner? I live in Charlottesville & all my friends use her planners. I have one but I just can't get it to work for me! Right now I'm going in between my iphone (and ical) and her planner which is the worst!

  16. Lately I have been getting a lot of inspiration from my new friends. I think that sometimes we get comfy in our current friendships and "new" friends help us see ourselves in a different way, they us differently than friends who have known us forever. They can inspire and motivate!

    Good luck Sarah!

  17. Thanks for always inspiring us Sarah! I think loving what you do is the best way to stay inspired, even when you hit a wall. You have to just love it, whole heartedly & always be open to growing and learning more as you go.

  18. there are times in which I feel not creative enough to shoot one good picture - during this phase I try to find inspiration online (in the many beautiful blogs I follow and also on flickr) and just go out and kind of force myself to shoot even if it all feels blaaa.
The book you mentioned (creative, inc.) looks super interesting, I might give it a try as well :)
    happy tuesday!! xox

  19. I love your list of things that help organize and inspire you... mine is very similar. Definitely a planner, list-maker, and offline-reader kinda gal. I'm also the same way-- if I am in a funk or hit a wall, it's time to go outside for some fresh air! :)

  22. i love this quote- and its time is perfect :-) it's so easy to be glued to your computer all day. getting some fresh air, even if it's a drive down a busy street, is always an instant refresher for me.
