let's take a trip tuesday - cambridge, ma

Today Amanda from Relish with Me is here to tell us all about Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Over at her blog you'll find tons to keep you inspired - food, green living, health, travel, fitness, fashion & design ... just to name a few.
And. could two people be any cuter? The picture below makes my heart melt.

{meet: amanda & taras}

Name: Amanda Bouzakine

Location: Cambridge, MA

How long have you lived there? 2.5 years

If you moved from somewhere else, where did you move from? Why? I moved from Florida when I married Taras – he was living up here and I was ready for a change!

How is the weather? Oh, my!  I get to experience seasons for the first time in my life and now I would never want to live without them.  I’m still getting used to winter, though.

Tell us what a typical weekend is like for you there? Eating out, getting drinks with friends, and running or biking by the Charles River are all givens.  We fill the rest of the weekend up with whatever is going on – street fairs, farmers markets, museum exhibits, or concerts.

Where do you like to eat in your town?  Everywhere!  There are such great restaurants in Cambridge and a lot of them focus on sustainability and local eating.  For ultimate gourmet we hit up Craigie on Main {get the pig’s head}; when I need a little taste of the south we head to Hungry Mother or Tupelo {these New England chefs know how to make some grits}; for a solid meal and a swoon-worthy cocktail we love Green Street Grill; and for more casual fare we like FOUR burgers, Emma’s Pizza, and Olecito.
{that's a pigs head, y'all!}

Where do you like to shop? Urban Outfitters, Garment District, H&M, Mudo, Anthropology, NY&Co, and LOFT for fashion; Central Bottle + Wine for a stellar selection of beer, wine, cheeses, and meats; Christina’s spices for unique spices and a great tea selection {they even have an ice cream shop next door with unbelievable flavor combos}; Black Ink for fun and unexpected gifts.

Suggest some must see places for an out of town visitor.  The Museum of Science or the MIT Museum will each keep you entertained; catch a live indie band at the Middle East or a more low-key performance at Toad; visit the Harvard University campus {don’t forget to rub John Harvard’s foot for good luck}; play a game of candlestick bowling at Sacco’s; grab a drink at People’s Republik to truly feel like a local.

Tell us why you love your town: I love that Cambridge is very diverse - you’re likely to mingle with hipsters, young professionals, students, and professors all during one night out.   Whether you want a casual beer with friends, a gourmet meal, or to dance the night away,Cambridge has it all.  And we have the best views of Boston around!  I could hang out by the river, overlooking Boston, for hours at a time.

Anything else we should know about where you live?

Cambridge might be best known for housing Harvard and MIT, but it’s so much more than that.  Be sure to cross to the other side of the river during your next visit to Boston!

Thanks for showing us around Amanda!
