homemade cherry tomato sauce

veggies are so inexpensive here.  Big macs are 11 swiss francs each (basically USD).  This is how it should be.  an entire carton of fresh swiss cherry tomatoes is 1.90 so I decided I'd make my own fresh tomato sauce to go along with my newfound spaghetti/carb addiction.

Recipe:

saute 2 white onions with olive oil
add crushed garlic
add a little basil
some pepper. never salt.
chop up cherry tomatoes and add them to the mix.
cover. stir. crush the tomatoes a bit more.
check on it for the next thiry minutes.
maybe add a little more olive oil.
Voila.  delicious and nutritious.  so many more antioxidants than found in a jar.

  2. Hey love I actually had homemade pasta sauce on the menu tonight as well. Do you think if I chop a couple of tomatoes and then juice a couple it will work as well? Just trying to utilize the juicer as much as possible.

  5. I'm considering buying a juicer. What brand do you recommend?

I'm currently on a daily wheat grass kick! It is changing my life!

  6. I unfortunately haven't done wheat grass but I do know that it takes a special kind of juicer. I would definitely recommend a powerful one so that you can get the most out of your fruit and veggies. It is a very rewarding feeling to put green leafy vegetables in that look seemingly dry and to have juice come out. My juicer is a Warington Pro it was just under $200 I believe but that was a few years ago. I would do the research to find out first what you would like to use it for and them target which one would be best for you. Mine is Amazing, but she does take some time to clean. She is worth it though.

Sarah- I used your recipe last night with homemade chicken Parmesan and whole wheat pasta and it was so delicious. Reed was my helper in the kitchen and reading me the instructions off the site. Bellisimo!

  7. Lexi - JB got me a juicer the first christmas we were dating. It's Jack Lalanne's. haha ... but he works great. I love Dr. Weil's - what my mom has and though he's stopped making them - you can find them at outlet stores. you'll love juicing!

emily- I'm so glad you liked the sauce. you guys are so cute!
